About Ris:
I was born in Hawaii, where I spent my childhood chasing the manapua truck and eating an inordinate amount of spam. When I moved to California I was introduced to mainland delicacies such as artichokes and tacos (to whomever figured out how to eat artichokes: you must’ve been one bored dude). I have since evolved into an East Bay foodie with a deep appreciation for extensive wine lists, strangely flavored organic ice cream, and hushpuppies. Along with my partner-in-nomming, Becca, I aim to explore Oakland’s burgeoning food scene as thoroughly (and drunkenly) as possible. Look for us in the post-dinner hours, stumbling around Lake Merritt in an attempt to walk off the chocolate bread pudding and bottle of wine we just snarfed down. Or, we might just be heading over to Merritt Bakery for a cupcake. There’s always room for cupcakes, especially red velvet…
About Becca:
I live, work, eat in Oakland. Somedays I think that makes me a lucky woman, something I think it makes me a crazy one. If I were on Jeopardy, my dream categories would be: 19th century english lit, feline idiosyncratic natures, east bay bungalow homes, BBC mysteries and fin de siecle Europe. Yeah - not too many people fighting me for those.
I need to get better at getting funnier faster if I am going to be writing more frequently.
